NEIGHBORHOOD STABLIZATION PROGRAMIn April of this year, Venture Realty Group (VRG) responded to a Request for Proposal by Bernalillo County whose Housing Department had received Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) grant funding and was in search of partners to assist in the Program.
As part of Title III of the Housing and Economic Recovery Act (HERA) of 2008, Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) money had been ear-marked to help neighborhoods which had been or are likely to be affected by foreclosure and abandoned properties.
The State of New Mexico received NSP funding in the amount of $19,600,000. The New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority (MFA) was designated by the State to administer $8,708,000 of NSP funding. Of this amount, $4,763,276 was awarded to successful applicants who would, in-turn, identify, purchase, rehabilitate and sell/rent foreclosed housing units. The NSP requires Realtors? assistance in locating and identifying these foreclosed and abandoned properties for purchase by the County, then selling/renting them on behalf of the County.
On July 27, 2009, VRG was notified that we were a recipient of this multi-award four (4) year contract. Bernalillo County has also extended the area of eligibility to the City of Rio Rancho.
